About Me
Hello, I am Bryan Abril and welcome to my Photography and Videography website. Before I elaborate a bit more about this website, I would like to personally thank you for taking the time to visit my website.
I have been doing photography and videography for around 5 years but only in the past year (2022) I took it much more serious, everything that you see has been self-taught through YouTube tutorials and several years prasticing techniques that suited the style that I personally liked. I am by no means a professional or do this for a living, my own projects are more for my own pleasure and the thrill of producing something cool for people to see. I do hope you like my shots.
I was born in the small town of Palmira, Colombia, I lived there until the age of 5 years old. I then moved to London with my mother, I settled mainly in several locations in South London and finished both my Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form School.
My family doesn’t come from a long line of photographers or videographers, the most my family has done is probably my uncle who use to take random photos of us during holidays, weddings, or other social events. However, he would occassionally take pretty decent shots of us doing family things and we would frame the moment.
My initial plan was to become web designer at university but then realised I couldn’t sit still for very long. I took two years off to figure out what I wanted to do. I decided on becoming a qualified personal trainer and studied sports and exercise science at university for my bachelor's and master's degrees, during this time I started a hobby of streaming on the platform Twitch.
From around 2014 I started to regularly do live streams on Twitch, mainly a game called Destiny, but I also dipped my toes into the Call of Duty franchise and Halo. Without knowing it, this would be the gateway for me to return into the world of tech, work set-ups and design.
Once I committed to becoming a part-time streamer, I found a new level of appreciation for stream layouts, animations, e-sport marketing, logo designs and stream/work setups. This then led to me making video content, at first it was game captured game play from my streams but then evolved to vlog content on YouTube and the presently short format fitness content on Instagram.
Naturally, I became curious about photography. I have had some great influencers that motivated me to try photography like Marques Brownlee, Snapbyfox, Westcott, Sean Dalton and a few more.
In my mind I wanted to get as close as possible to their standard, learning about their favourite locations, lenses, cameras, settings and editing techniques to produce amazing shots.
The reason for this website is to record and share my journey with photography and videography, with the intention to help others who are on a similar journey to me to improve and become a better visual storytellers.
I hope my journey will aid you in yours and most importantly that you find new heights of joy in this awesome hobby.
